Forward torpedo room, instead of taking all the rubble out of the Uboat, everything was stashed into the adjacent room, the petty Officers mess. The steel wire was installed by the salvage crew in order to pull the torpedoes from their tubes. (August 1993). |

Forward torpedo room, once the spare torpedoes were removed and this area cleared from all the rubble that had come down over the years, work could start on opening the torpedo tubes. Where we first could step down on the rubble now a ladder was necessary to permit save entrance. To the side storage spaces for the crew, every part of a U-boat was utilized in creating storage. (August 1993). |
